iBetX Launches First Ever European Horseracing Punter's Championship

Online Competition Will Find Europe's Top Betting Exchange Punter

LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 10, 2004--iBetX.com, the UK-based online betting exchange, has announced the first ever European horse racing Backing and Laying Championship, which starts on 26th June 2004. Punters will play online internationally for the title of European Backing and Laying Champion and a guaranteed GBP 10,000 first prize.
The Champion will be the punter with the biggest winnings overall from backing horses to win and laying horses to lose, with all participants starting from an initial GBP 100 entry stake.

The Championship has a qualifying round, a semi-final and final, all played online. All participants convert their GBP 100 stake to an initial bank of 10,000 points to back or lay horses over two days during the qualifying round.

According to iBetX director Imraan Malik: "Betting has always been a competition between individual punters, and between punters and bookies. The iBetX European Championship takes this a stage further, enabling serious punters to play against each other for the title and prize purse. It's about which punters are the shrewdest judges of form, conditions, and how to grow their winnings by backing and laying."

The first round of the Championship will be held online on June 26th and 27th on the days' race meetings. The top 25% of punters with the most points from this round, will carry their "bank" through to the second round, to be held on July 3rd and 4th.

The online final will run over three days from July 9th to 11th. All participating punters will back and lay horses on the same race cards throughout the Championship, to ensure fairness.
